Al Gibbons on Joining the Sanford Chamber of Commerce

Introduce yourself and your business.

Al: My name is Al Gibbons. I started Transforming Property Solutions in 2011. We are affordable housing providers.

When did you/your business join the Chamber of Commerce?

Al: We joined the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce in March of 2012. It was a decision that was easily made because the people who invited us were close family and friends.

What do you think is the main purpose of being in the Chamber?

Al: The true core purpose and reason to be a member of any chamber is to grow the chamber since it belongs to the nonprofit members. As one serves within that organization, they will reap the benefits from those that they help get what they want.

Advantages of being with the Chamber?

Al: A few of the benefits of being a member of the chamber include the events that are hosted throughout the year. We enjoy the bi-monthly business connections meetings, the Hob Knob golf tournaments, and special meetings with new member Meet & Greets. They are all great reasons to join. Also, all of the media posts, newsletters, and information available for each member.

Favorite events with the Chamber so far?

Al: The annual Taste of Sanford is by far my favorite. Come early and come hungry! There are 40+ of the local eateries with a huge variety of cuisine. Mouthwatering from pizzerias to deserts, and too many to name in-between.

What are some things that motivate you and your business?

Al: What motivates me the most is what I do—I love what I do! I don’t believe it’s “work”. It gives me pleasure to see the outcomes of the services I perform. It’s reflected in the customer testimonials and referrals we get each and every day.

What one thing made you grow the most professionally through the Chamber?

Al: The one thing that made me grow the most professionally within the chamber is the idea and purpose to SERVE others first. Zig Zigler said, “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.”
