2020 Interior Design Trends
While 2019 was a time for perfection and minimalism, 2020 has very different ideas for interior design. More people are opting towards items that show off their bold personalities. Mix-and-matching both old and new furniture pieces is also becoming very common. We at Transforming Property Solutions have complied the new decade’s current trends of interior design. Read more to see some of the most used designs and styles of the season, and what to integrate into your own home!
A style becoming prominent in interior design is the “Grandmillennial style”, where traditional design is combined with contemporary features. Elements like scalloped edges, natural fiber rugs, topiaries, etc. are mixed with modern art and clean-lined furniture. Warm colors like chocolate brown, wine, olive green, and sunflower yellow are being used all over.
People are opting more towards warm spaces that comfort them over rooms that feel industrial. Features such as cool tones like grays, classic subway tile, concrete floors, all-white kitchens, and metal-framed furniture are all out of style to make way for more personable spaces. Even faux plants are being replaced by actual greenery.
Perfection is in the past with the new decade. People are beginning to like pieces that have been loved and worn over brand-new items; it makes them feel more at ease with their home since nothing is too precious.
Furniture wise, many items are not being used as often. Open shelving isn’t being used as much since people want to keep their kitchens tidy and practical. People are also using quartz countertops over granite or marble due to its durability, ease of maintenance, and ability to mimic other materials well. In theme with warmth, rattan and wicker furniture are also making a comeback.
For walls, people are taking the phrase “go big or go home” to heart! People are starting to paint full rooms in bold colors or patterns, removing the need for accent walls. Upholstered walls are also being used more often, some people making it themselves.
